St. George Orthodox Church of Spring Valley is a parish community of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America, under the authority of His Eminence Metropolitan PHILIP. Our local hierarch is Bishop ANTHONY of the Diocese of Toledo and the Midwest. Our community has a long and interesting history.

We Orthodox Christians have a “realistic” understanding of our worship and sacramental life. We believe that Christ is really in our midst as we celebrate the Divine Liturgy and that He really is feeding us with His victorious life. We believe that Jesus really does enable us to die in Him and to be raised with Him into a new life. We believe that we really can—and without fear—call upon our heavenly God as Father.

Because we are a small parish, we cannot offer you a wide range of programs and parish organizations. We can and do offer you the essentials of the Orthodox Christian faith and life. We offer you the presence of God in our worship and sacraments, and we hope to help you to discover that your life is rooted and grounded in “the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God the Father and the communion of the Holy Spirit” (2 Corinthians 13:14).

How can we help you? We offer the oppotunity to join in worship of the Holy Trinity, one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, through the timeless and ancient worship of the Holy Orthodox Church. We offer you, too, what God has done and is doing with us.

If you have any questions about Jesus Christ, the Christian faith, or the Holy Orthodox Church, we offer you the same invitation St. Andrew offered his brother Simon Peter at the beginning of the Gospel According to St. John: “Come and see!”:

Come and see Jesus Christ in the Scriptures.

Come and see Him in prayer and worship with our community.
Come and see Him in our icons of events in His life and the life of His church, and of the saints who radiate His transfiguring presence.

We believe wholeheartedly that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again on the third day to offer us His love, His victory, and His presence until the end of time. “Behold,” He said, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). He's with us… even now.

Our long-time pastor, Fr. Gregory Buss, passed away on March 19, 2013. I am honored and humbled to succeed him in the ministry of St. George Church. May God bless you!

                        —Fr. Andrew Kishler
